On being mobbed

The account of an ongoing bid to harass a legal tenant out of her Seattle neighborhood

Countermeasure: Set your devices to Airport mode

Wireless connectivity is the backbone of mobbing a household. To guarantee the minimum requirements to pull off this crime, those mobbing you will likely ensure you are provisioned with greater bandwidth than you know. The mobbing transmissions may compete with your own for the bandwidth, their mobbing prattle may intensify to the point of causing your television programming to lose sync or to glitch, but mobbers need entry to your network and the networks they configure around you must provide connectivity and access points. For this reason, mobbing victims may experience significant mitigation of mobbing harassment by setting devices with the capability to Airport mode as well as refraining from adding them to a network.

I recently added a note on this point to Mobbing close to the bone: Bone conduction, but this countermeasure is worth further discussion. It’s not in the mobbers’ interests, when the vehicle for the delivery of the constant verbal abuse that they expect to eject you from your home is your network, to block your reception. Mobbers who mob your home using what I have called the “surround sound” system of harassment benefit from ensuring you dwell within a stable network configuration. The configuration must support the transport of harassing sound to your devices and, probably for infrasound or an infrasound-like effect, over the surfaces of your home. At the very least, they want to control and direct the signal, perhaps even to displace it, much in the same way that hackers are known to push traffic onto rogue access points to capture data. The mobbing victim might disable her own WiFi network in an attempt to mitigate the harassment, but she cannot turn off the WiFi networks of the neighbors whose houses are in close proximity to her own or who share a WiFi network that envelops her home.  This is why you might find that unless your devices are shut down, they may emit some low level of sound. Mobbing as I have been mobbed in this rarefied enclave of northeast Seattle, appears to have much in common with a “signal hack,” an interruption or intrusion into the radio signal.

Networks that are configured to support mobbing harassment can significantly affect the machines that we rely on for our health. Using a hair dryer might cause a momentary increase in your experience of mobbing sound. When you turn it off, the air currents that stir infrasound subside. In contrast, the whole point of using an air purifier, especially if you suffer from allergies or asthma, is the constant maintenance of a high level of clarity in the interior air you breathe. You don’t want to turn these machines off. But having them on ensures a higher level of mobbing harassment in your home, a level that may make it difficult to continue living in your home and that may eliminate any possibility of your resisting mobbing harassment whose goal it is to forcibly evict you from your home, especially when your decisions are made for your children or the animals in your household.

A case in point is the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine that is physician-prescribed to reduce sleep apnea, a condition in which breathing is interrupted during sleep. A CPAP uses a constant stream of forced air through a hose, with intake through a mask, to keep the airways open and regulate breath. When you are being mobbed, this airflow becomes the transport for infrasound harassment, a transport that may exacerbate the mobbing to the point where you might find you are reluctant to use the CPAP device you need to protect your health. Not only that, but CPAP machines increasingly allow for the immediate upload of data to the cloud, over your WiFi network. With this capability, these assistive breathing devices become IoT devices subject to the vulnerabilities of those devices that reside within the IoT (Internet of Things) device ecosystem. You may be able to disable WiFi, but if a rogue WiFi network overlaps your property, they might still be able to target you through the network interface card (NIC) on the device. At the least, if your house is bathed in infrasound, the air transported through the hose will bring you the infrasound as your breath is mediated in sleep. You can probably still the transport by air to some extent by covering the hose of the device with towels or securing it beneath your pillow. But you may find the greatest difference in your ability to sleep without infrasound-like harassment, even if you’ve never added the device to a WiFi network, if you check the user manual for an Airport setting and enable it. (Note 02/08/21: All bets may be off if mobbing with transmitters like the Sonos can reach you by powerline connection or HomePNA. If you use a CPAP with a mask that brings the forced airflow over your temples or along over facial bones that amplify sound by bone conduction, moreover, the dangers of harassment by infrasound may be increased. If you are forced to live in a situation of mobbing by electronic infrasound you might want to consider the use of a CPAP mask that covers as little of your face as possible, for example, the ResMed Airfit P10 if such a mask is supported by your prescription. Generally, a machine that does not include a network interface card is likely to be more difficult for criminal harassers to interfere with. For a lay person’s explanation of the phenomenon of bone conduction and its use in criminal harassment, see Mobbing close to the bone: Bone conduction.)

The phenomenon of bone conduction is crucial to comprehending the predatory nature of property mobbing with infrasound. But any victim of a sustained property mobbing understands the impact of air flow on mobbing harassment. Any device that moves air, whether it is the cycling of the refrigerator, the circulation of air by fans and air cleaners, or an assistive device for sleeping prescribed by your physician, increases your vulnerability to infrasound. Sound needs a transport; air current provides one. The willingness of those who property mob to make a platform for harassment out of the devices that help people to breathe is a meaningful comment on the predatory nature of the crime and the imperative to prosecute those who harass others with infrasound or by using network connectivity.
